A year in (Black and White) pictures
As 2019 ends, I decided to go trough my year projects and assignments favorite pictures. Just a nice time to remember all these incredible moments and an occasion to share them with you.
Different themes were approached: climate change, social documentary, Travels to Scandinavia, Belgium, The USA. I hope you will enjoy them!
Before we go for this post I would like to thanks NIKON Belgium for their incredible support on the field and for their cameras. I’d also thanks my agency Renegades for their motivation and for always pushing me further.

January 2019 :
I was on assignment for De Volkskrant, documenting the steel factory “Tata Steel” and its impact on the nature and the town next door. The total assignment can be seen here.
February 2019:
The young dancer & actor “Victor Polster” is dancing and celebrating is “best actor performance” award for the movie “Girl” during the annual “Magritte du cinéma” in Brussels. Part of the assignment can be seen here
Assigned by the newspaper Libération, I documented the Belgian teenagers protesting to change laws, and have a better future toward climate change. Images can be seen here
March 2019:
I was assigned by the Belgian rock band “Dead Man Ray” to do their very first portrait since their reunification this year, just before their tour.
MAY 2019:
My work in progress “The shame of the Sun” was awarded by the National Press Belfius Award in Press category.
June 2019:
I went for an day trip to the Ardennes Belges, documenting a motocross race. Pictures can be seen here
July 2019:
I traveled to Brittany and walked along the AtlantiK wall. Then I published a small text with my photographs in de Standaard. Can be seen here
September 2019:
I went to Iceland on assignment for a private client. I used extra time on the island to continue making picture for my own work.
October 2019:
Kids with toy guns, when I was traveling in Thailand.
A rain storm coming at us while at sea.
I was invited for an Artist residency to continue my work up north Norway, in the Vesteralen. More images here I published part of it in the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant.
November 2019:
My photography book “ Mexican Morgues” receives the HiP Award (Category society) in Paris, and is selected as one of the best book of the Year by the journalist Gaea Schoeters in De Standaard newspaper.
A particularly uncomfortable book, and that is why it is a must-read.
